Giving Back

Springs is more than just where we have chosen to base our factory. It’s our home and our community, and because of this, most of our Corporate Social Investment is focussed in on the area surrounding our business.

These are just a few of the things we do as part of our programme of giving back to the community:

Enterprise Development

As a family-owned manufacturing business, we are firm believers in enterprise development and have seen first hand the positive impact it has on people’s lives. Having identified potential in a local business – Thandolwethu Motor Trimmers – we committed to helping the owners get the company off the ground by assisting with their rent for 2016, lending them a vehicle for deliveries/collections and purchasing some of the initial materials required. We undertook a similar partnership in 2015 with the Ecclesia Centre KwaThema where we assisted the group with the purchase of a brick-making machine through Hydroform SA. This served to both provide the group with useful building skills, and also the ability to generate a sustainable income.

Corporate Social Investment

Plastic Bubbles has been a supporter of the Michael Zulu Primary School situated in Tsakane for a number of years.  Plastic Bubbles often donates various items to the school, but recently has embarked on a partnership with the school to build a much needed “Learning Centre”. The learning centre and an additional 2 classrooms which Plastic Bubbles also assisted with, are complete. The students in Tsakane will be in a position to benefit from the Learning Centre and additional two class rooms from January 2017. The bricks to build both the Learning Centre and two classrooms were made by the workers at the school using a Hydraform Brick-Making machine which was donated to the “Ecclesia Centre Kwa-Thema” by Plastic Bubbles in 2015. The people who assisted with the Building Project have learnt the special skill of brick-making with the machine purchased, and have learnt other building skills which they will be able to utilise in the future.

Plastic Bubbles donated a large number of household items from our range of plastic ware to various organisations in and around the Springs, Brakpan and Benoni areas.

The following organisations received donations from Plastic Bubbles: WK Du Plessis Hostel; Vita Nova; Hope & Crisis Centre; High Five Kids; Esda Old Age Home; Gorogang Primary School; Mothers Nest; Phelang School; Tsakane Society for the Care of Aged; Matshediso School; Leth’ukukhanya Care Centre; Anistemi PPK Geduld Church; Tsakane Therapy Centre; Wilson Lebone Christian Creche; David Bopape Early Childhood Development; Little Corner Creche; Together as one Foundation; Bula Mahlo Day Care Centre; Belvedere School; Scanda Nivia; Sibusiso Day Care Centre; Ekubongeni Children’s Home & Feeding Scheme.
