In celebration of Women’s Month, we are focusing on the benefits of diversity in the workplace. We believe that a diverse workforce is an important asset that can unlock enormous benefits to any business.

When the different views, beliefs, and opinions of each employee are utilised effectively it can be a significant strength, which creates better collaboration and teamwork. This also provides a platform to unlock better solutions for our business and our clients. Valuing differences in others is what ultimately brings us all together and can be the secret to a successful, thriving workplace and an unbiased value driven work culture.

A packaging partner that cares for its people

At Plastic Bubbles, we believe our people are our greatest asset. We are committed to empowering our employees, up-skilling each individual and unlocking their potential.

As a team, we are always working towards an inclusive environment that provides equal rights and opportunities for all our employees, regardless of gender, colour, age, ethnicity, physical ability, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and so on.

We believe that diversity is only possible where the underlying values are the same, and that is why it works for Plastic Bubbles.

Creating a beneficial, diverse culture in the workplace

Diversity, inclusion, and openness underpin our company culture.

Our management team comprises of 4 women and 4 men of various ethnic backgrounds, race, and age.  This year we even up-skilled and trained our very first female forklift driver! Yes, our ladies continue to break the paradigm shift of what they can achieve in a male dominant industry.

For us, bringing diversity into the workplace is one of the topmost priorities for business today.

In saying that, here are the 3 main benefits we’ve experienced from a creating a diverse workforce:

Diversity increases creativity and innovation

Think about it this way: sameness breeds sameness. If you only employ people who come from similar cultures, perspectives, and socioeconomic circumstances – then you’re limiting your creativity and innovation. On The Other Hand, employees from diverse backgrounds will bring varied solutions to achieve a common goal – your goal.

Improved productivity

It’s true: workplace diversity not only breeds creativity, but also productivity. And that’s because creativity leads to productivity: the more diverse your workforce is, the more diverse your brainstorming, the more diverse your solutions, the more diversely productive your team.

A workplace culture of diversity goes a long way toward helping your employees feel included, no matter who they are or where they come from. This acceptance helps break down barriers and keeps them engaged, helping them participate without any fear of being rejected, not only for who they are, but for the ideas they share.

Low employee turnover

We have found that putting time and energy into the wellbeing, health, and happiness of our employees makes them feel appreciated and recognised, it also gives them a sense of belonging.

When employees feel accepted and valued, they are happier in their workplace and stay longer with a company. As a result, companies with greater diversity in the workplace have lower turnover rates.

At Plastic Bubbles we celebrate Long Service Awards annually, which not only confirms our extremely low employee-turnover rate, but also that our employees feel accepted and valued.

The list doesn’t end here. Diversity isn’t a destination you reach, it’s a continuous process that we need to actively drive throughout our business and our industry.

After all, as Stephen Covey said “strength lies in differences, not in similarities”
